Laredo is home to the Laredo Community College and Texas A&M International University. The University of Texas Health Science Center also has a campus here in Laredo. Laredo has two school districts; the areas in central Laredo are served by the Laredo Independent School District. Their high schools are Dr. Lego Cigarroa High School, R&T Martin High School, J.W. Nixon High School and The Laredo Early College High School at TAMIU.
Areas in other parts of Laredo and northern Webb County are in the United Independent School District. Their high schools include John B. Alexander High School, Lyndon B. Johnson High School, United High School and United South High School. The city also presently has 8 private schools.
